New Delhi [India], September 12:<\/strong> <\/span>In India\u2019s Jamnagar, Gujarat, a remarkable conservation movement has slowly but steadily emerged as one of the\u00a0world\u2019s most ambitious and largest wildlife rescue and rehabilitation endeavours,\u00a0<\/strong>steadily redefining the boundaries of environmental care.<\/p>\n

More than a sanctuary, Vantara is a global conservation hub. Spanning over 3,500 acres, it combines large-scale animal rescue, advanced veterinary care, ecological restoration and international partnerships. Its mission: to rescue, rehabilitate and revive species under threat.<\/p>\n

Vantara<\/a>\u00a0is the brainchild of Anant Ambani, who envisioned the project as a lifelong mission for animal welfare. His personal commitment and active involvement reflect a philosophy that conservation must be hands-on and deeply rooted in compassion.<\/p>\n

His work has been recognised nationally and, more importantly, it has brought conservation into mainstream conversations in India, where rapid development sometimes overshadows ecological needs.<\/p>\n

\"Wildlife\"<\/p>\n

Inaugurated by Narendra Modi, India\u2019s Prime Minister,\u00a0Vantara\u00a0was\u00a0created\u00a0to\u00a0give\u00a0animals\u00a0a second\u00a0chance\u2014those\u00a0freed\u00a0from\u00a0trafficking,\u00a0exploitation\u00a0or\u00a0conflict<\/strong>. Today, it cares for over\u00a02,500 animals across 2,000 species<\/strong>, housed in habitats that replicate the wild.<\/p>\n

But the centre\u2019s ambition goes further.\u00a0It is positioning itself as a pioneer in species reintroduction, helping return animals not only to health, but also to the wild.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A striking example of this vision is the story of the Spix\u2019s macaw\u2014a rare blue parrot once declared extinct in the wild.<\/p>\n

For\u00a0years,\u00a0these\u00a0birds\u00a0survived\u00a0only\u00a0in\u00a0captivity.\u00a0Through\u00a0global\u00a0collaboration,\u00a0Vantara\u00a0helped in\u00a0their\u00a0safe\u00a0breeding,\u00a0disease-free\u00a0certification\u00a0and\u00a0transfer\u00a0back\u00a0to\u00a0Brazil.\u00a0Dozens\u00a0of\u00a0macaws have\u00a0now\u00a0taken\u00a0flight\u00a0in\u00a0their\u00a0native\u00a0forests.\u00a0For\u00a0the\u00a0first\u00a0time\u00a0in\u00a0more\u00a0than\u00a0two\u00a0decades,\u00a0chicks\u00a0are being born in the wild.<\/p>\n

Vantara has also successfully transformed the lives of elephants rescued from abusive environments.<\/p>\n

\"Wildlife\"<\/p>\n

A 600-acre elephant habitat has been created, where these gentle giants now roam free. Modern veterinary hospitals provide treatments such as laser therapy, hydrotherapy and arthritis relief in customized pools.<\/p>\n

For many\u00a0elephants,\u00a0it\u00a0is\u00a0the first\u00a0time they\u00a0have lived without\u00a0chains.\u00a0For India, it\u00a0is\u00a0a model of what ethical care can look like.<\/p>\n
